I-Bride’s minute #06 : Bit wear

Wear of the I-BRIDE bit may be the expression of a problem linked to an oral, locomotor or osteopathic problem, which may be current or previous and which may have left a habit.
According to our team of professional equine dentists, there are 2 reasons why horses damage or attack their bits:

  • 1st hypothesis: your horse is constrained by oral discomfort, even after a visit to the dentist.
  • 2nd hypothesis: it’s wear and tear on the barrel’s flexibility. If this is damaged, the ergonomics and flexibility of the cannon no longer have the desired effect. In this case, the horse will feel uncomfortable and attack the bit.

To help you understand, here’s an example: a runner buys a pair of sneakers for cushioning and flexibility to optimize his performance. But with regular use, the sneakers 👟 will wear out and eventually need changing. The same goes for bits!
